Adsl 2+ internet drops out and nbn

Hello,

My Adsl 2+ internet connection was perfect for the first 4-6 days but now (over 6 months) of being with Telstra I now get drop outs either on the hour dot or every morning (6-8 oclock) Its very annoying. Its not the router that is causing the problem us less it is chance the last router I had was faulty so they sent me another one. But its still the same with all of the drop outs, it might be because the copper cable in the house is over 40 years old and there is an open telstra hole down the street which when it rains the water gets in to the hole that is open(Tesltra have done nothing about this hole which has been there for 3-5 weeks. nbn isnt an option atm untill 2017, I was wondering because my town is getting fftn I will probably still be getting drop outs even on the fttn because it will still be using the old copper.

So do I have to pay for all of the old copper to get replaced because looking at some other posts on here it seems to be the most common problem with the old copper, and because with the bad fttn coming and not fttp it will prob need to still be replaced.

FYI: I dont get the adsl/phone line under ground it above with the power poles.

What i have done so far-

  • Changed router
  • Changed cables
  • Changed positions in the house
  • Tried turning it off and on
  • Tried plugging it into a switchboard and just into the power point
  • Changing line settings( tried all of them)
  • ive tried everything that i can find if you can give me anything else I can try that would help a ton 😄

Thank you to anyone that can help with my questions!!

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Do you get any noise on your home phone at all?

Have you contacted Tech Support so that this can be reported and a technician look into this further.

Re: Adsl 2+ internet drops out and nbn

How would I got about doing this?

Will it cost any money?

After further investigation, I think it has something to do with the copper phone line cables coming to my house. As when it rains the internet instantly drops out.

Thanks.

Call 133 933

They will probably get you to do some of what you have already tried as part of their troubleshooting. More then likely in this case they will escalate it to their level 2 support who will organise an appointment for a field tech to investigate.

None of it should cost anything if the issue is telstra network related. You only get an incorrect callout fee if the issue is deemed to be not Telstra related
