Adsl2+ line speed

Answered
Just got my adsl2+ connected with a telstra frontier modem/router.

In the settings it tells me "wan sensing ln2" speed to be just over 14Mbps however any speed tests i do I only reach just over 12Mbps.

I got a feeling this is normal but was wondering if i could squeze a a couple more Mbps with my connection.

I have a netgear x4s i have tested and same results however the ping consistently seems to be about 5ms lower to the server im testing

Cheers for any input

Re: Adsl2+ line speed

The sync speed is pretty much the maximum speed a line is capable of based on the line conditions, the DSL hardware used by the modem, and no other factors.

When you're using the internet you have to take into account things like TCP overheads. Your actual speeds will (provided there's no other factors/issues at play) always be lower then that. In terms of what you can do to increase that or the sync speed, not a great deal.

Also Post your modem stats:
On a Premium Home Network Gateway, T-Gateway, Gateway Max, or Gateway Max 2
(TG587, TG797, TG799, TG800):
http://10.0.0.138/ > Advanced > Broadband

On a Telstra Gateway
(Sagemcom F@st 5355):
http://10.0.0.138/ > Advanced > Gateway Settings > Device Info > General > xDSL (Bottom of Page)

On a Frontier Gateway
(DJN2130):
http://192.168.0.1/ > Advanced > Broadband

Long graph hard to capture on phone so took a few segments.

I always seem to move to areas with no nbn, and although 4g connection can handle 4k the data allowences do not, so a couple extra Mbps would have been good in this day and age.

Not much I can do about it! Thanks for your help
