Cable internet down and up and down

My telstra cable internet in east kew is down today. For the past 2 months it well be down fire 1-3 days then will be ok for a week.

We had a tech out but it was up at the time he was here. The modem is 18 months old and the usual trouble shooting has been done.

It is a new connection. Is this unusual?
