disruption in internet service switching from cable to NBN HFC?

Does anyone know if there is a disruption in internet service switching from cable to NBN HFC? (telstra have stopped our ultrafast cable connection and will only let me have fast if I convert to NBN - but we have people working from home whose service can not be disrupted....(Telstra was supposed to call me back 10 days ago - but their call centres is now closed down with covid)

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

Re: disruption in internet service switching from cable to NBN HFC?

Hi mw118.  In case this helps, and hopefully this is typical, I switched from Bigpond HFC to Telstra NBN HFC last Thursday.  I used a coax splitter (there was one supplied in the box with the NTD and gateway) so I left the existing Netgear modem in place and added the new Gateway as well.  Both internet services are still working at this time, e.g. my Sensibo is on the older network, but this computer is on the newer.  In terms of "service can not be disrupted", you're going to have to disconnect and reconnect the coax of course ...
