Ever since I got my NBN modem my home phone says the "Home line in use" and calls don't come through
If I pick it up there's just an annoying crackling noise.
I've pressed the reset button on the modem but that didn't change it.
I've turned everything off and left it off for a while but that didn't help.
Any suggestions out there?

It is either a faulty modem or a phone that is not compatible with the modem. If you have Have tried another phone ring support and lodge a fault.

Re: Ever since I got my NBN modem my home phone says the "Home line in use" and calls don'
A few thoughts - If you are on NBN FTTN or NBN FTTC, do you have any telephone sockets with phones paralleled to the incoming line DSL port if FTTN or the white NBN (Netcomm) Connection Device (NCD) if FTTC. I understand with FTTC, any pre-existing parallel sockets need to be disconnected or rewired for parallel connection to the modem instead of the primary telephone socket. Have you migrated to Telstra from another carrier and cancelled your previous service with that carrier? Is Telstra pursuing your condition through their Fault Reporting procedures for further investigation.

@Grump_Old_Man I would try a different phone first.
Footnote: I don't work for Telstra, I just try to help out fellow Telstra customers.
