I have been trying for 2 days to use one of our 3 free data top ups but it's not working. I have contacted telstra through 24 7 chat yesterday and also called telstra today. I have been advised that the request is pending activation. However after a couple of hours, if I log back into my account the request is no longer pending and states I have 3 free data top ups available. I don't understand why this is occurring, it's the first time I have tried to utilise this since being a telstra customer for over 15 years and is very frustrating.
I think you'll need to speak to Telstra again if it keeps cancelling the request.
