Have to use Google DNS for my Mac to connect to internet

Since the DNS issue with Telstra last weekend my Mac will only successfully connect to Internet and programs if I keep the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 in my Ethernet network settings.

I have reset the modem but nothing works. It won’t just accept 192.168.1.1 in DNS settings.

Why are you trying to set the DNS to192.168.1.1?
