It's been like that since March 2020. They turned the data counters off when they moved everybody to unlimited data as part of the Covid-19 response. They've never been turned back on.

Hey @JI31,
Jupiter is right in saying that usage wasn't shown for unlimited plans. However, now you can view your broadband usage through the Telstra App, even with an unlimited plan.
Sometimes it is just good to know where you're at, even if the allowance is unlimited
