You can also do that via the Telstra homepage:

 

  1. Sign  into Telstra 24x7 My Account using your Telstra ID and password.
  2. Under the Plans & usage tab, select Plan details
  3. Now select the internet account you’d like to top-up
  4. Under Features, select the Top up now button to activate your top-up.
  5. Top-ups generally take up to 1 hour; in rare circumstances they can take up to 48 hours. We’ll send an email once your top-up is active. If your top-up has not been added to your account, get in touch with us.

I am also trying to get one of my '3 for free' broadband data top ups. Like rellop80 I cannot use app, so tried via logging into MyAccount page and followed the instructions. 

 

When I clicked on top up now, it says under Free data top ups - "We're unable to determine how many top ups you have left. Please try again later. If the problem persists, contact us via 24x7 chat."

Have tried several times. Tried chat button - no good. Tried ringing 132200 several times, once waiting 20 mins only to have it hang up. It's hopeless.

Can they apply data top up for me in store?

I have not tried in a Telstra Store. It could be worth a call to one tomorrow.

 

In the meantime, you can text message Telstra Support on your phone.

An update on my issue:

Went into one Telstra shop - they couldn't do it. Next day called into my local Telstra at shopping centre - they did it for me.

So I have my free broadband data top up applied now. Great service from James & team at Telstra Carindale. 👍👍

I am glad that you managed to enable it.

It would be nice if experiences were the same no matter which Telstra Store one went to.
