Hi all,
Extremely frustrated new customer here. Looking for any and all assistance!
I have moved to Telstra Cable after being on Optus Cable for many years.
I have been a PSN user and PS Plus subscriber for many years with zero issues.
However for some reason , since i have moved house and started with Telstra cable, my fixed IP is being blocked by PSN only. I have steam, battlenet, origin etc all working fine.
From what i've been able to gather after weeks of waiting, is that both Telstra and Sony both dont want to claim fault.
Sony will not disclose why my fixed IP Address is being blocked, and Telstra are basically saying its impossible for them to change my fixed IP.
I have read many forums and have seen some solutions for the dreaded WS-37397-9 login error.
Telstra using CGNAT to share fixed IP addresses was mentioned by Sony as a possible reason for my IP address from being constantly blacklisted. That is, bad behaviour by another user on the "same" IP.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance
Brett

@Kalak They are dynamic but very sticky
@Jorna there is something you can try
1. Log into the modem via 192.168.0.1 in your browser (user: admin, password: password) with a computer connected via ethernet
2. disable wifi
3. bridge the modem and reboot
4. log back into the modem via 192.168.100.1
5. Put the modem back into NAT mode and reboot
6. log back into modem 192.168.0.1
7. Turn wifi back on
That may change your public ip but it is not guranteed

Re: IP Address blocked by PSN
Do you realy need a fixed IP address you could use a DDNS provider such as NO-IP which will provide you with a URL pointing to your external IP address which is constantly updated.

Re: IP Address blocked by PSN
No real need for a fixed IP. Wont the URL still resolve to the fixed IP anyway?

Re: IP Address blocked by PSN
By fixed IP address thought you meant static IP please ignore previous suggestion.

Have you tried using a VPN service to disguise your IP address?

Thanks all. Bridging the modem forced an IP update.

Re: IP Address blocked by PSN
This looks exactly what I need and I appreciated your post.
The problem I have is that I don't have a good understanding of some of your instructions.
You say 'Bridge' the modem - How do you do this on the Netgear Gateway Max? Are you able to be more specific on how this is done?
Put in NAT mode - As above, how do you do this?
Yep, I am a newbie but I have looked around for instructions for my router and its difficult for me to find any step by step instructions. You'll be making a 10 year old very happy if he can get back onto the PSN and start his gaming again.
Cheers.

Re: IP Address blocked by PSN
To Bridge the Netgear C6300 provided by Telstra, you will need to connect a device to the modem via Etehrnet cable. It is very important that you disable the Wi-Fi networks first before going into Advanced Settings and disabling the NAT.
Disabling Wi-Fi from Advanced View within the modem:
1. Select Wireless from the left hand menu
2. Go to Wireless Settings in the left hand menu
3. Remove the tick from Enable Wireless Access Point which is part way down the page
4. Click on Apply at the bottom of the page
5. Repeat for 5 Ghz network using the Wi-Fi Interface drop down box at the top of the page.
6. Make sure that both have been disabled before continuing.
Disabling NAT from Advanced View within the modem:
1. Select WAN Setup from the left hand menu
2. Select WAN - Disable (Bridge Mode) on the page
3. Click on Apply
You will then be able to connect a BYO router of your choice
