IPossible Scam

I received a call saying that this is my last day before my Telstra internet will be cut off, select 1 for  yes and 2 for no.  The caller ID on my phone came up as Inside Out Progressive Kinesiology on 0455 544 426. I looked this up and they appear to be a legitimate business in Qld., but someone may be using their phone number?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: IPossible Scam

Yes it's a scam and the perpetrators just go through a list of numbers, they don't care whose number it really is.  Makes it hard to take any real action against them. Smiley Frustrated

Re: IPossible Scam

Best just to hang up on them.  They hijack innocent people's phone numbers.

Re: IPossible Scam

Hi SimSim1.

This is a common scam. We do what we can to block & stop scam callers, but as we're not a law enforcement agency & the majority of scam calls come from overseas using number spoofing, it can be hard to stop them entirely. If you continue to get them, please chat to our "Unwelcomed Calls" team on 1800805996.

You can find some more useful info here on how to handle these calls https://tel.st/dmfxf. You can report this to the Aust. Communications & Media Authority here: ACMA http://www.acma.gov.au/.

We have a printable PDF document here https://tel.st/7z696 on how to tell if it is really Telstra calling you. We also have more info here on how what to do if you get a scam call https://tel.st/8qvnz.

Finally, you can also report this via the "Misuse of Telstra Service" form https://tel.st/4ze4t

These steps are the best way to reduce these calls.

Regards
