My modem keeps randomly dropping out

its been going on for about a week and ive been in contact with Telstra about 4 times. they say that theyll monitor my connection for 24 hours. thats it. no other help. this is the log

Your modem is rebooting probably due to a device on your network that is incompatible with the modem. There is nothing wrong with the NBN link. Some IOS devices (Particularly IOS 14 device paired to an apple watch) used to cause modem's with Firmware earlier than 18.1.c.0443-950-RA  to reboot. Suggest you check firmware which is displayed on LHS of modem's log in page (http://192.168.0.1).

 

There has also been a recent firmware update (18.1.c.0514-950-RB) that added protected management frames to enhance the WiFi security. You could try disabling PMF in the modem's Advanced > WiFi settings. Some devices that don't support PMF can cause the modem to reboot. If this isn't the cause re enable PMF.

18.1.c.0543-950-RA is my firmware right now. I've just disabled the PMF, I'll see how that goes and hopefully that fixes it. Also should I have the firewall answer internet ping or not?

By default respond to ping is off and should be left off for security reasons.  It should only be turned on if you are running a connection test from a remote site. Hackers  pinging random IP address. If respond to ping they will know that there is device connected to that address and will then try to find a hole in your firewall.

Your modem is still rebooting. Unfortunately when modem reboots it resets the log which makes it impossible to use log to find what is causing the issue. It is either a faulty modem something on your network or possibly a faulty power surge causing modem to reboot. Have you added any electronic devices lately? Is it possible to disconnect all wifi devices or half the wifi devices to see if the problem still occurs?

no, we dont have any new electronics. we have a spare gen 2 modem that ive also tried but just end up with the same result of the modem crashing. i just got off the phone with telstra again. they said that a technician will call back within 24 hours to run some test. But they might need to send one to the house if they cant find anything

There are two versions of the Gen 2 modem are they both Technicolor DJA0231? The other version is an Arcadyan LH1000.

i believe they are different versions based of the modems advanced and basic screens pages when i was accessing them
