NBN dropouts and Foxtel

I recently had nbn connected and runs via the Pre-existing Foxtel cable.  Coaxial cable runs to a splitter then to Foxtel box and nbn box to modem.  The internet drops out repeatedly but will work if the cable is run direct to the wall but then I have no Foxtel. I have bought both new coaxial cables and a new splitter and this problem still persists when using them.   Telstra support went nowhere (after 3 hours they hung up) and I get a email message to say the problem is fixed.  This is surely an issue with the cables to the house?  Any advice on where to go from here appreciated
