NBN installation process in townhouse
Hi there,
I am having problem with getting NBN connected at my premise which is a townhouse under Strata building management.
I was advised by NBN that they need to place lead-in conduit from the pit (on the shared driveway in front of my premise) to a NBN utility box mounted on external wall of the premise, and that they need Strata's permission to commence the civil work (digging/concrete cutting). I took this to Strata then they suggested the following process which I don't think it is reasonable for property owner.
1. Any work or damage by the work done as a result of installing
wiring from the pits to the unit should be paid for by the unit owner.
2. The owner should apply to the committee & Strata's before work
commences.
3. The application should include a detailed written description of
the work to be done prepared by the contractor (in this case NBN Co.)
4. The application, prepared by the contractor should include
"before" photographs of the common area that will be affected
5. "After" photographs of the area affected must also be provided.
6. Any damage to common property is to be repaired like for like
IF you already experienced this re. install NBN in Strata management building then appreciate your feedback as to be honest, I doubt about the process to follow.
Thank you.

Re: NBN installation process in townhouse
The responsibility is on the owner when it comes to lead-in and trenching requirements for communications wiring from the Network Boundary Point. Due to this, Strata can legally pursue you for damages.
In this case, NBN is merely the contractor you've engaged to perform the work (trenching and conduit work does not have to be done through them, only the lead-in itself is mandatory). In turn you may be able to then pursue them if they act like bull's in china shops
