NBN Speed is less than half I expected and paid for

Connected to the NBN today. Modem lights all green. Expected speed of something in the order of 35 - 45. Getting 12- 18. I'm on the Home Internet Entertainment $99/mth (tier 50?). Connecting and testing directly from PC, not over wifi.  Is the 'evening speeds' thing a marketing lie? Or should I see better speeds? Not too impressed so far. Thanks

Hi, I have FTTN.  Since posting that question, my speeds have increased to between 30 and 46!  I should complain more often : )

 

I just got a ping of 6, 46.73 up and 16.61 down.

That's much more like it.

 

Makes a change from the 3.2 I've been getting for the last 7 years.
