NBN Speeds 100

Answered

I can only get 88 mbps or sometimes 95 mbps, I have signed for 100 mbps.

You have quoted "No matter what nbn technology you have, your nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises."

Why I am paying for 100 mbps?

Re: NBN Speeds 100

You're paying for the 100/40 NBN tier, but the full 100mbps is the maximum, not what you will always achieve. Your maximum achievable speed is dependent on your NBN technology type. Attached below is from https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/nbn/plans-bundles

Currently the four main NBN speed tiers that NBN makes available to Retail Service providers such as Telstra are 12/1, 25/5, 50/20 and 100/40. The speeds you are getting on the 100/40 tier are good.

Depending on the technology, you may never be able to reach the maximum... Even on FTTP, you may not get it due to the congestion...

Re: NBN Speeds 100

Maximum I've seen on FTTP is 98ish. It is impossible to hit exactly 100 given the way net traffic works and NBN's overheads

Re: NBN Speeds 100

I nearly cry when I remember 115mb/s more often than not ...when Telstra was the national carrier.

Re: NBN Speeds 100

Where were you getting those speeds when Telstra was the national carrier? I find it unbelievable, because that's so far in the past that I don't think speeds like that were even possible...

@ForensicsGuru

Telstra HFC it is/was quite common to hit over the plan speeds (roughly 36-38 on the 30/1 plan, 115-120 on 100 plan. The 50/5 speed upgrade can net you about 55-56)
