New ADSL2+ connection - speeds don't seem great?

After a month of arguing back and forth about Telstra saying my house doesn't exist and that they can't provide me with a phone line or internet connection, today I finally got my ADSL2+ connected, yay!

I was promised a minimum 6 - 8 Mbps over the phone, which sounds great. Only issue is, I can't seem to do a lot without waiting and buffering. A Telstra speed test came up with the following.

I'm not overly stoked about paying $100 a month for this speed - am I being unreasonable?

Can you log in to your modem and post your broadband connection stats. Need to see the items like Maximum and Actual Sync rates and signal to noise ratio to determine if &/or where a problem is occurring.

Are these the stats that you mean? It's stating Max 6.2 Mbps, but I did a speed test again (as below) and only getting 2.4Mbps still..

Yes, they are the right ones. Can you post them again, just so we can see if the errors are increasing?

Other than that, the stats look ok. It is most likely just congestion at the exchange. Do you get higher speeds during off peak times?

Also are those tests run over wifi or ethernet?

Re: New ADSL2+ connection - speeds don't seem great?

I'll run another test when I get home from work - I wouldn't think to classify 10PM as a peak time though? As I mentioned, the Telstra salesperson promised me minimum speeds of 8Mbps, and I'm only getting a quarter of that so I'm not particularly impressed.

It was over Wi-Fi, but sitting right next to the router.

3PM-12AM is considered peak time

Re: New ADSL2+ connection - speeds don't seem great?

The Telstra Salesperson shouldn't have promised you anything more than 1.5Mbps as they can't guarantee anything above that.
