Port availability

Hi why does telstra keep calling offering this service when there's no ports in the area

we get told yes there is and set us up with a bundle and then cancel it saying there's no ports

If you are getting cold called it is more then likely from TSA (Telco Services Australia) group. They don't have direct access to wholesale to check for port availibility in an area (As retail and wholesale are seperate entities governed by a SSU) so only go by if you are in an area that is serviced by an exchange/RIM which makes ADSL potentially available. 

 

Same with Telstra Retail or any ISP that uses the Telstra Network.

Telstra don't port numbers anyway. Loosing our number if 8 years at the same exchange as Telstra don't want to do it. Tpg will let them and asked for a porting reference number.

I spoke to Telstra about this matter and was told its Telstra Telemarketers

If you contact us directly, either here:  http://tel.st/hsc3 or by calling us on 13 22 00, then "billing" when prompted, you can ask to be removed from our Marketing.

 

Having made the request, it can take up to 30 days for lists to be updated.
