PPPoE password

Have just got the NBN with TG797nV3 modem. I am wondering if for security purposes I should change the PPPoE Username and password to my bigpond user name and pword?? I have heard it is not needed but was given no explaination??

Nbn doesnt connect via PPP and authenticates a different way which is why it's not necessary
