As of yesterday afternoon I have been unable to access our servers via FTP nor RDP.
Browsing is fine just not the as mentioned.
I just noticed an hour ago the Connection light is Purple which indicated the modem is running on 4G.
a) why can I not connect as normal if I am running on 4G
b) coincidentally we just ordered the NBN on Wednesday - Thursday afternoon we lose ADSL and drop to 4G. Coincidence ??
Bottom line do I need to alter any settings to allow the 4G to work as a normal internet connection. ?
If it helps when I did Ping it looks like it is doing so on IPV6 instead of IPV4
Thanks

I have managed to get the FTP working in case someone else finds themselves in the same predicament.
It seems the 4G fallback defaults to IPV6 which is not what we would normally use when connecting via FTP RDP etc as the norm is IPV4 (actual IP address).
To get this working ;
FTP settings in whatever app you are using - I am using CuteFTP.
Change the - data connection type - to EPSV (it might have been Auto or PORT typically)
Bingo
Now to find out why Telstra has messed up my connection ...
Was this helpful?
- Yes it was, thank you
- No, I still need help

Re: Smartmodem 4G fallback not allowing FTP or RDP
You can also change the PDP Type from IPv6 to IPv4v6 in the modem's mobile settings to get bothe a WAN IPv4 and IPv6 address. There are some other apps that you might find don't work with only an IPv6 address.

Thanks, sounds like a good idea, I will give that a try.
