Telstra NBN internet slows to almost stop repeatedly in Ivanhoe 3079 area.

We are experiencing repetitive problems with our Telstra NBN service whereby the internet speeds slow down to such a degree that web pages can’t open and downloads are so slow as to be stalled.

Then after a short time the problem goes away and internet speeds appear back to normal again.

This problem can occur several times within an hour and appears cyclical.

We have spoken about this problem with several neighbours who are also with Telstra NBN and they confirm that they also are experiencing the same problems, also experiencing this in our area is a large grammar school.

Please do not waste our time suggesting that we should first check our modem router etc. because the issue is widespread in our immediate area. Our neighbours experiencing this issue have Telstra NBN with the Telstra Smart Modem.Several of us have run the Speedtest App and found on one such slowdown the App showed zero Download speed.

Almost makes me wonder if the teachers at the school are asking the students to watch a video on their laptops and then they are all doing it at once. That would certainly kill the system.


All you can do is report the problem. Telstra may need to buy extra CVC to service the area adequately (and they also need to find out what the root cause is).

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
