Telstra provided c6300 username for gateway login not valid?

Answered

Hi, last week I had Telstra cable broadband installed, and all went well.  The configuration I wanted was to have the C6300 act as the cable modem, but keep my Billion BiPac 7800DXL for connectivity to other devices (including powerline carriers) and for WiFi (I think it has better antennae than the C6300, but no evidence of this ...).

In any event, I now have problems with DHCP leases, and want to log into the C6300 and see what services it is running, check the DNS settings etc. and find that the Telstra tech provided username doesn't work.  When I go to the 192.168.0.1 login screen, and enter my username (part of email address so, its in the form of - "letters.moreletters.1234") then the page errors, saying "Username must be [a-z,A-Z,0-9]." so I presume it doesn't like the periods.

I have the password, which I think is correct, but can't get to that point.

I have no other login name to use?  What am I missing?

Cheers, Brownie1010.
