Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 Channel Settings

Hi there. 

My baby monitor requires wifi and till recently things have worked fine. Lately it can't connect or even locate my wifi and vtech's technicians have advised me to ensure:

1. Channel is set to 10 or under, not at auto

2. Settings should be at 2.4GHz not 5GHz

Not sure how to check that on my Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2?

The Gen 2 modem's recently had a new feature called Protected Management Frames (PMF). This might be reason the monitor no longer connects. Suggest you disable.

 

To disable open a WEb browser on device connected to modem and go to http://192.168.0.1, password is Telstra.

 

Go to Advanced.

 

Go to WiFi

 

On the 2.4 GHz WiFi settings look for PMF or Protected Management Frames.

 

Remove tick or set to disable

 

Save settings.

 

While in the 2.4 GHz WiFi settings you could also change channel from auto to a fixed channel.
