Twitch.tv consistently gets throttled by telstra. The transfer speeds soft cap at 2.5Mbps, which sucks because it allows at the most 480p viewing.
My phone is with optus and 4G speeds are only slightly faster than my broadband speed, yet via 4G i can watch twitch on 1440P no buffering, both on the phone and on the exact same computer and browser when tethered.
I contacted Twitch.tv support and got directed to a technician via phone and got told that they do not throttle their output towards us and that the issue most likely lies within an external source such as the ISP throttling.
If this is the case, lets say someone was making a living from Twitch.tv and without saying throttle the connection, is that even legally plausible?
Telstra continues to disappoint.
