unable to connect to my wan ip address through port 80

I have enabled port forwarding for port 80(HTTP) and 443(HTTPS) to one of the machines at home. I was able to connect to it from work (outside of the house) for one day then it stop functioning (connection timeout). I have checked the connection from other ports (other than 80 and 443) they all seems to work. My guess is Telstra may have blocked my IP for using port 80 and 443. Because I was on dynamic IP address (DHCP). Is there a way to lift the block ?

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

Have you set up a static LAN IP address for the PC?

I have tried using both 443 and 80 on an IP camera and I am able to connect using external address.

The only port Telstra blocks traffic on is port 25

Your problem may be as simple as your public IP address may have changed.

Have you set up a dynamic dns service with a provider such as dyndns or no-ip?

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Set it & forget it
