I've just received a new Smart Modem with cable adaptor replacing a failed Netgear Cable router. Have tried to pair the new Smart Modem with my existing WN2500RP extender.
I have factory reset extender several times, pressed Pair button on Smart Modem (5+ seconds) and almost instantly get the rapid red flashing light after a few seconds.
Is the Netgear extender compatible with new Smart Modem? or is there a solution to get this connected successfully?

The Netgear extender should be compatible.
Have you tried manually connecting as per
Connect your device t0 NETGEAR_EXT Wi-Fi network.
Open Web browser and got to www.mywifiext.net.
See https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/Home-Broadband/message-id/74993 for full instructions on IOS device.

Re: Wi-Fi Extender Help - Telstra Smart Modem : Netgear WN3000RP
Hi Sarge43
There should be no issues connecting any device wirelessly. If you have tried entering the wifi information manually and you are not having issues with anything else connection you could try logging into the smart modem on 192.168.0.1 and under wireless untick the band steering option to allow the 2 seperate networks.

Re: Wi-Fi Extender Help - Telstra Smart Modem : Netgear WN2500RP
I think my issue is the same - just need to check. I tried to connect two powerline adaptors to my new smart modem. I used 5E cables and when I plugged them into the yellow ethernet sockets it disrupted the internet connection in my iMac. I then tried with the Telstra supplied cable with yellow plugs (also cat 5E) and had the same problem. Is this condition likely to be addressed by the solution following?

Re: Wi-Fi Extender Help - Telstra Smart Modem : Netgear WN2500RP
I have a TP-link extender RE450 as well, and have the same issue, are they also compatible with Telstra Smart Moden Gen 2 since I can set up the TPlink successfully, but there is just no internet service from TPLINK.

Re: Wi-Fi Extender Help - Telstra Smart Modem : Netgear WN2500RP
Are you able to log into the Extender at http://tplinkrepeater.net/?
If you can log into extender is the status similar to shown hear.
If not go to Network and check that "Obtain IP address automatically" and DHCP server are set to auto.
