Hi timclifford,
The simplest way to initially test would be testing with a standard phone connected to the gateway if you have or are able to borrow one.
Change the phone cable between the gateway and the base unit.
Isolate just one handset to the base.
Technical support can look into the connection quality on 1800834273.

Many thanks for the suggestion.
So Far we thought it *may* have been caused somehow by the fact that a stutter tone was present on the line due to messages being present and not listened to in the Telstra 101 voice mail box. We have since cleared the messages. But I am not at the premises to verify if the issue continues.
Have tried with a different handset and base (even though still a cordless and the issue persists).
Could it possibly be the due to poor upload speed on the line as it affects only the outside listener?

The voice service has a higher priority than the regular data on the service so this should not be a problem especially on an FTTP service.
There are a few more things that tech support may need to know like if it is happening on all calls or just at certain times of the day or to people on particular ISPs.
