handset ringtone or volume on Telstra Call Guardian 301

I have just bought a Telstra Call Guardian 301 cordless phone for my business. The ringtone is very loud so we would like to change it and the volume or even set the ringtone to off. The leaflet provides info on how to do so and I have followed the instructions multiple times but the ringtone still remains the same and the volume does not change. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it? Thank you!
