Home phone plan

Answered

I am a Senior Health card holder. Am I able to get the Home phone Essential ($25) plan? I am finding I cannot justify the cost of the Home Phone Ultimate plan.

Hi @Westy27

I just went through with this a friend that is a senior. You can only connect to the Essentials plan if you are a Pensioner or a Health Card holder. If you just have a seniors card that you use to get cheaper prescriptions then you are out of luck.

I've been doing a lot of research on just home phone plans with many providers and unfortunately, they are not cheap. It's like home phone users have been forgotten with the NBN.

My friend has to switch over to the NBN but luckily he can stay on his current "Budget" plan he had beforehand, but eventually, Telstra will be forcing everyone over to their current plans. When that happens he will just get it cut off and use his mobile.

Re: Home phone plan

I have setup some elderly friends with 3/4G deskphones just lately..  they all use low cost Pre Paid SIM's. The deskphones were the big cost, I got them for $90 each but that's a one off. They have a battery and charger, hearing aid friendly, big buttons and a screem for messages etc. good volumes as well, plus SOS functions  - brand is Olitech. These people like them because they are somewhat portable as well as being harder to lose.  Just an option to consider maybe?
