House Demo and what is needed for Telstra services

We are demolishing a home and I have contacted the Telstra Network Integrity team who have advised that they need to come out and inspect the property and then give us a quote on the work that is required. I could not get a quote on the phone or a ball park figure. When I received the Email it essentially says they will charge to head out and inspect the property in the next 7-15 working days!

I have then spoken to a builder who has done several demo's and he believes this is not required. That the cables can be cut and wound to the connection on the street. I have also contact 2 demo companies who both could not give me an answer on this but clearly do not wait for the Telstra line to be abolished. The second company advised essentially what the builder did.

We are demolishing next week and I would like to ensure we are doing the right thing but Telstra are not making this easy.

Please can you assist.

My understanding is that NBN have purchased all Telstra's outdoor cabling. I imagine you might speak with NBN and get their opinion.   One of the large licensed data cabling companies may also advise you.

In all these cases you can give our Telstra Non Standard Works Team a call on 1800 810 443 (available Monday - Friday between 9am - 5pm AEST/AEDT) to discuss your requirements. They will help you to understand when work can/cannot be undertaken and organise a contractor to come out.
