For non NBN services you can try calling 132203 and 1800 834 273 for NBN services.


If you can't get through there,  send a message using the My Telstra app on your mobile (blue icon, bottom right of Get Help screen).


You can also try which can run some automated checks on your service.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
