Interim Phone Bill Query

Answered

Hello.

I am writing this message on behalf of my 82 year old mum, who is now in need of medical attention due to the amount of stress that has been caused by Telstra! I am appalled, disgusted & unapologetic in what I will write.

My mother has been given an interim phone by Telstra (yes our National telecommunications - which I can’t seem to get a home operator). The deal was that my mother was to receive a credit for her home landline bill until such time that she gets NBN in her area.

Telstra is now demanding her pay $52 per month and threatening her with legal proceedings if she doesn’t pay. When I have tried calling Telstra to resolve this issue, I am made to wait on the line for 1-2 hours before I get an operator in another country, who either doesn’t now anything about the issue (nothing is on my mother’s file), or they have said it is in credit and she doesn’t need to pay, a note has been made and I am told no more calls will be made to my mum demanding payment.

Within 1-2 days she will receive calls from Telstra demanding payment of legal action will be taken against her.

My mother is on a pension, and is now suffering from severe anxiety, has had multiple visits to her GP and must now go and have specialist tests. Is Telstra going to pay for this?

Telstra - I have a few questions? How will you feel if something does happen to my Mum? Why do you make me wait 1-2 hrs to speak to an operator that can’t solve this issue? Why are you threatening an 82 year old Mother, Grandmother?

She has credit on her interim landline phone - leave her alone, no more phone calls, no more bullying. Appalled and disgusted in your behaviour and your treatment.

I am more than happy for you to contact me.

Adam.

Re: Interim Phone Bill Query

The interim landline phone (mobile) should normally be getting billed (and act as) as her landline service. Not sure why she would need to add credit to the service. Something doesn't sound right there.

You should lodge a formal complaint via https://telstra.com/complaints as Crowdsupport is not an official customer support site. It is mainly customers trying to assist other customers.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
