Internet working, landline isn't.

Have 2 lines into the house, one is a business line, the other is the personal landline & ADSL. (When we moved in 5 years ago the telstra technician said that we couldn't use the business line for ADSL as it wasn't "suitable". At previous house the business line was also the internet.)

Personal landline is not working but internet is.The business landline is working have used it to 'ring' home phone.

Replaced splitter/filter with new one. Landline still dead - if you ring the home phone via another phone you hear the phpne "ringing" from your end but the actual phone does not ring at all.

Disconnected all phones from other outlets (total of 3 in house).

Plugged phone directly into the outlet that the asdl (modem) was plugged into. Still no dialtone. Tested phone in outlet for the second (business) landline & got a dial tone, which means that the phone is not faulty.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Call 132203 and report a landline telephone fault.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.
