Landline NBN new connection

Answered

I am trying to organise the NBN new connection (FTTC) appointment  for my mother. She only has the landline. Her current plan is Ultimate Voice. She was advised by letter from Telstra last August  that even with connecting to NBN with them that her plan would not change , her phone number would stay the same as would her contract. She pays $55.00 per month on this plan. She has now been told that she has to choose a plan for the internet costing either $80/$90 pm. There is no choice. She is an aged pensioner. Does this sound correct? We have been advised this info by someone doing their best via messaging but unfortuately English is not their first language. Can any one clarify. Thank you

Re: Landline NBN new connection

Hi @STANFORD1927

For starters the Cis states that it is NBN compatible.

https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summaries/personal/home-phone/telstra-home-phon...

Secondly: According to Telstra exchange, This plan now comes with 25gb data so you would not need to upgrade to an internet plan.

https://exchange.telstra.com.au/keeping-everyone-connected-to-the-digital-economy/

Edit, Telstra changed the plan name to Starter Internet plan!

https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/help/critical-information-summaries/personal/home-intern...

Although the Cis details of this plan don't align with, What was announced via Telstra exchange, It is still only $10 difference

I don't work for Telstra, Never have, I am just a Telstra customer like you.
So the advice I give is my own, In my own time, Guided by my own experience/knowledge.
Which I am always happy to be corrected on.

Hi Again @STANFORD1927

Well although your experience so far has been bad, it should be straight forward.

If it were me! Ring 132200 9am to 5pm week days, not sure of the exact opining hours, But some one will answer during this time slot.

You will have to make sure you are a full authority on your mum's account to be able to make changes to her current plan. or book an NBN appointment.

Just ask for sales, and go from there, Explain what you want! reference my above notes if Telstra play hard ball, as they are from Telstra's website.

Make sure you get a reference number for your enquiry.

I don't use  the my Telstra app, I just use a home pc and enter chat here.

https://livechat.telstra.com/social:consumer:service     between 8am and 8pm AEST

Re: Landline NBN new connection

Hi Rohan123 Thank you for your response. It sounds as though Mum is fine with Ultimate Voice plan. Is there a chance you know who I contact to make an appointment to get mum connected to NBN. Her address is NBN ready FTTC. Or at least point me in the right direction. I don't want to go back to the messaging area in My Telstra app unless I really, really have to! The NBN people state her phone line will be cut off in October 2021 even though we have phoned and messaged for over 1 year to Telstra.  Thanks again for your assistance

Re: Landline NBN new connection

Hello Rohan123 Just wanted to let you know that I contacted Telstra NBN  on 1800 834 273. They have made available a plan called Home essential which is specifically for pensioners transitioning to the NBN. it will cost my mother $27.00pm. They're  organising a smart modem. They seem to think she would not need a NBN connection box. I will wait on that side of things to see if that is correct. At least we are on our way! Thankyou for your advice and assistance no need to reply as I know you are busy!  Cheers
