It should work. You need to plug the base station into the green phone socket of the Telstra Modem.

If you want to use the answering machine function, cancelling Messagebank may be required as well.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Yes the phone should work with the base plugged into the modem's green phone port.
