No phone line

I have just connected to the nbn and just bought a new dect phone. When I plug it in it comes up with no line

Did you buy just the handset, or a complete set up with base?

If a base station, are you definitely plugging it into phone?

Have you rebooted your modem?

It's a complete base and plugged directly onto the modem and have reset it

Is the phone base plugged into the green phone port on the modem. Is the phone light on back of modem (Gen 2 modems) or top of the modem (Gen 1 modems) green?

It's plugged into the the green phone line. I took my hand set back and got a refund as they said I had to go and buy one that was nbn compatible not nbn ready. Same thing it, it doesn't work.

I bought a Panasonic from JB with 4 handsets and bsttery back up for base for $110. That works. 

Is your modem a Technicolor or Arcadyane?
