Hi,
Does anyone know if Telstra 4G mobile broadband dongle gets a new IP address every 4weeks (28days or a month)?
We are keeping the mobile broadband on all the time for uploading measurement data to cloud, however, we have communication problems every 28 days/4weeks.
Thank you and best regards,
Aaron

Hey Aaron, that is quite possible as the DHCP lease time on the network is probably set to 4 weeks. When it renews the lease, there is the likelihood that the IP address will change.
Assuming that this is for a corporate customer, have a chat to your IT group and see if they can get a Static IP address for the service.

Re: Does 4G mobile broadband get a new IP address every 4 weeks?
Thanks a lot Jupiter,
your reply is very helpful.
We are a major university in Brisbane. However, we bought the 4G mobile broadband for our research project and registered under a personal service.
I have checked with Telstra and it seems that no static IP address can be arranged for 4G mobile broadband. Oops.
Thank you!
best regards,
Aaron

Re: Does 4G mobile broadband get a new IP address every 4 weeks?
How often do you upload data? Maybe send 'keep alive' every few hours? Also maybe look at using a service name, rather than an IP address (I assume you are doing this to verify identity to an FTP or other data service - is IP the only way to verify)?.
Too many devices, probably an addict :-) also a tinkerer and developer of stuff..
Not with Telstra, just another customer like you!
