Is Telstra double counting my data?

I recently had to use my phone as a hotspot as the home Internet was down for a few days (not Telstra). I was watching my data usage on the counter on the phone (Samsung S21G) and I got a text from Telstra saying I had used half my allocation, which is DOUBLE the count on the phone. Is the phone count inaccurate, or is there something wrong with Telstra's count. I recently moved to a new plan, which has only been available for a couple of months.

Have you set the data counter on your phone to use the same time period as your billing period?

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Set it & forget it

With direct debit there’s no need to give paying your bill another thought.

Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again.
