I would like to port my number from another provider onto a new mobile broadband plan with Telstra, but I can't see an option for porting when signing up. Is it possible?
I have had the number for years and use it to receive text messages that I don't want to come through on my main mobile because of potential spam.

Telstra does not allow txt messages and voice calls on Mobile data plans so even if you were able to port the number you would not be able to receive txt using the number.
Edit
There was a period when Telstra block SMS and voice calls on Mobile broadband but checking critical information it appears SMS and voice calls are now allowed.
