Moving SIM from 7.2 Home Gateway to USB Dongle

My current post paid Telstra BigPond 3G wireless broadband service connects via a BigPond 7.2 Home Gateway. Can I take the SIM card out and use it in a new Telstra USB 4G Modem such as the Sierra 320U to access 4G broadband?

I beleive it is possible howver you would have to contact bigpond to say you have changed the SIM (IMSI) & IMEI to another device but you cant just put in and go back when you please if you did, you would constantly need to have changed through bigpond
