Netgear NIGHTHAWK M1 Router admin password

I just purchased the Nighthawk M1 wifi.

I have been able to set it up and change my password.

I tried to go back into the m.home page where the settings are but it asks me for admin credentials

The instruction manual says the password is 'admin' however, this does not work

I have tried to reset the device twice by holding in the reset button for 30 seconds but this does not work

Please advise either what the password is or how to reset it.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

During the activation process did you select a new password when it asked?

If so that should be the password to use.

try 'password' as the password

Re: Netgear NIGHTHAWK M1 Router admin password

I have the same problem. I have set up my Nighthawk, renamed and reset the password. I get on the internet OK but if I try to go into the Admin section of the App my password does not work. Neither does 'password', 'Password', 'admin', Admin'. Have also done a reset with the paperclip.

What other suggestions????

If you reset to Factory, admin works. Hold reset button for 20 seconds and reset will follow

Re: Netgear NIGHTHAWK M1 Router admin password

I'm unable to recover my password either - it's been a while since I needed to login, have forgotten the pw if I ever changed it (which I probably did), but there doesn't seem to be an easy 'pw recover' option.

@@BJB49 thanks for your suggestion.  I held the power button down for 20 seconds and it just shut down the router and rebooted it, didn't reset anything?

Any other options?  Thanks...

Re: Netgear NIGHTHAWK M1 Router admin password

Instead of the power button it is the reset button which is a pin hole normally. I can check mine when I get home for more specific location.

I have the same problem... have done the reset button for 30 seconds, tried admin, password and Admin, Password and no luck... is there another way of resetting the device?

@ecurbr

You could also try "admin" as the password.

@lucy20

Welcome to CrowdSupport.

To remove the back cover of the Nighthawk M1 modem, press gently and slide the cover in the direction of the arrows on the back.

I hope that helps.
