Post paid 4g wifi SIM card activation


My oldman today upgraded his 4g wifi contract and went with a newer plan. Telstra store decided it was best to cancel his previous account and create a new one which included a new SIM card. He had his dongle on him so the person in store swapped over his SIM card and sent him on his way.

Looks like the new SIM card won't connect to the telstra network which makes me think it's not active. I tried putting his old SIM card back in but that also does not connect now so I think it's been deactivated.

How long can a new SIM card take to activate? Is there anything we are supposed to do to activate the card?
