Byo plan, changing to a plan of great value freedom connect with phone waive the ETC

Hello

 

I Have been told by my father after he called telstra and have read on this forum that if i change from my current $49 Byo plan and upgrade to the $71 freedom connect with the Iphone 5 32gb that my ETC but whenever i go and try to do this at either a telstra shop of over the phone 132200 i keep being told this is not the case and i have to pay a $300 etc as there is still 7 months left in my contract here.

 

Can this be clarified for me

Hi Rowan, typically, if you recontract a service and there is no MRO (Mobile Repayment Option) included the ETC can be waived. As you are currently on a BYO plan this should be available to you.

 

With regards to the plan that you want to take up, Freedom Connect plans are no longer available and you would need to look at our Every Day Connect range of mobile plans.
