Changing carriers - name and porting question

Hi, I've just purchased a Telstra phone plan online, will porting my number from my old carrier be affected by my last name if my home address and licence details are still the same? i.e. My old carrier has my maiden name, I've registered with Telstra under my married name.

Also, does anyone know when abouts the port would occur if the phone is getting posted to me (I'm in a regional area)? Just so I have a heads up as to when I'll lose connection on my current phone.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: Changing carriers - name and porting question

The primary thing that the porting process checks is account number or date of birth. If these match you should be fine.

In most cases if you're porting you'll need to get in touch with them when the new phone/sim arrive for them to begin the porting process.
