Forcefully being moved off $199 plan

Hi All, I'm trying to get some clarity regarding my options as I am very happy Premium Swap plan customer who leased a phone well over 2 years ago who is now out of contract and does not find any of the new phone plans suitable to my needs. I am being told that I need to return my lease phone ASAP and sign up for a new plan or else I will be charged for the phone (which i'm ok with) AND forced onto a new plan. Can Telstra forcefully change my plan without my explicit permission? Thanks, Axe

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Yes, they can change your plan by giving you at least 30 days notice and by giving you the option to change plans without penalty (this does not include any handset repayments).

All the old plans (including very recent ones) are being retired and all customers are being migrated onto the current plans.

Never be afraid to back yourself when trying new things, just always make sure you have 3 escape routes if things go wrong.

Set it & forget it

With direct debit there’s no need to give paying your bill another thought.

Avoid queuing up and never worry about late fees again.
