Airport Extreme setup with tg587n v3

I bought the airport extreme becuase it was supposed to be a simple setup......

I currently use the Technicolor tg587n v3 as wireless.  This is what i thought to do:

1: Plug an ethernet cord into the WAN port on the tg587

2: other end of the ethernet into Airport extreme

3: Open airport Utility and run setup

Mistakenly i pressumed this would be it, but its not working, i get the blinking orange lights with no internet.

Any help would be appricated

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you

That is really how simple it is designed to be,
are you trying to use it as a range extender or to replace the routing functions of the TG587?

Also what happened when you run the set up assistant?

If you are wanting to to extend the range and power of the wireless network, rather then replace the functions of the TG587, try set it up as a wireless connection using the set up utility and see if that works better.
