F@ST 5355 NBN USB Device

Hi, just spent 75 mins on the helpline to be told the Telstra NBN F@ST 5355 doesn't support the the USB Device, meaning I can't connect an external hard drive to the gateway and use over the wifi network. The message I'm getting when following the instruction on the Telstra Gateway page, thats copy smb://mygateway etc to the exploer is that it won't connect to mygateway ,Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator.

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

Re: F@ST 5355 NBN USB Device

The way I get access to Files on USB drives plugged into the F@st5355 is to type "\\10.0.0.138 into explorers address bar not smb//mygatway.  But my gateway stiil has the original firware it might have changed with the updated firmware.

This message could occur if you have not set your Wi-Fi network up as private and Network discovery is turned on.See image below.

If you still don't have access to your USB drive check that SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing support is turned on.

In Windows 10 click on start

Start typing Turn Windows Features On or Off
Click on “Turn Windows Features On or Off”
Place a tick next to “SMB 1.0 file sharing support”
