How to change router IP address from 10.0.0.138 to 192.168.0.1 - Telstra TG797n v3 router

Answered

Hello,

I have recently signed up for a Business Telstra ADSL service.

I am replacing an existing ADSL service from an alternative company.

We run MACs on a network and in the past all have been hooked up via eithernet, running to the router at the IP Address 192.168.0.1.

Now with my new Telstra service the router (TG797n v3) uses an IP Address 10.0.0.138.

I basically want to retain my existing IP Address system - 192.168.0.1 but for me to do this I need to change the Telstra Router's IP Address to 192.168.0.1

Does anyone know how to do this please or is there some kind of work around?

thank you

Dave

Hi Dacdidac,

What is the firmware currently configured in your modem?

In the latest version (15.19.1327-420-RC) you access the modem via http://10.0.0.138 and go to Advanced then the Local Network tile. You will see where you can change the modem and DHCP IP details here.

If you need further assistance with this, I would recommend contacting Telstra Platinum as they are able to help with the advanced configuration of these modems.

Hello,

Just to let you know you're not being ignored, but this is a specialised area, and I simply don't know re ADSL IPs

If none of our great team are unable to provide a solution, you can ring tech support on 133 933 or  you may wish to  go to whirlpool in the modem forum.

Hopefully, you'll get a solution a little later.  Cheers

If I have helped you, a "Like" would be appreciated.

If my advice is a solution, please acknowledge it.

Re: How to change router IP address from 10.0.0.138 to 192.168.0.1 - Telstra TG797n v3 router

I own a CCTV company and install IP cameras for residential use.  I have no problem with routers that use default gateway IP address 192.168.1.1 ----->  i simply assign the IP cameras 192.168.1.25 ,  192.168.1.24,  etc....  these IP addresses are outside the dynamic IP range set by router so the IP addresses are static which is what I need.

But I have a customer with a Telstra router with default gateway 10.0.0.138 which is not the norm for home use, usually this convention is used for business.  I cant seem to find out what is the dynamic IP range is, so I can stay outside and make sure the IP addresses I assign are static.  I know im not outside the dynamic range as the cameras are all confused and are constantly changing.  I tried calling tech support but they dont seem to know what i'm talking about.  Cant seem to get a clear answer from google either

Pls advise,

THANKS!

Personally, I have had success manually assigning IPs starting at 10.0.0.100. Give it a try and let me know how you go.

If you mean a fixed external IP address it is an extra $10  a month.

If you require a fixed address for viewing security cameras or a WEB server you can achieve the same result by using a free DDNS (dynamic domain name service) from a company such as NO-IP. With these you can set up a URL that is dynamicaly updated with your external IP address.
