Logging into new "Smart Modem" DJA0230

Is it at all possible to log into my modem using ETHERNET.  I've tried the usual http://192.168.0.1 and http://mygateway/ with no luck.

I'm not being perverse, but on Tuesday 1 May I awoke to realise that my TG797nv3 was totally kapput, rang Telstra etc and agreed it was modem and new modem sent.  Then I found my Samsung tablet was extremely hot and also dead.

I really don't want to try to use my phone to connect to modem and configure it as it would be pretty painful. Due to hacking by my not so nice neighbours I'm now only using a Desktop PC - with no wifi or BT.  I only use them someplace safe like when I'm moving and away from home.

So how can I access Smart modem over ethernet??

Was this helpful?

  • Yes it was, thank you
  • No, I still need help

You should be able to access your modems interface via WiFi and Ethernet. From previous posts I've read, I believe your modem is in bridge mode, the IP address my have been changed and that may be why you can't access it using 192.168.0.1
I work for Telstra, but my opinions are my own and not that of Telstras

Re: Logging into new "Smart Modem" DJA0230

Thanks for that speedy reply. At the moment I have simply set it up as a eopl connection to the DJA0230 with nothing connected to Belkin router, which is turned off.
It has a LAN cable into port 1, grey plug into grey port, black plug into black port, and my DECT6 base phone into the first green port. Phone setup works fine.
I'm just wanting to access Telstra's router, because I wanted to check it out and secure it as much as possible, then bridge it to the Belkin.
Initially I just plugged the Belkin into it and it worked to access the internet, with LAN cable plugged into Belkin. Then I disconnected Belkin and plugged LAN cable into Smart modem, with Belkin turned off.
It may be other issues, I've reset Smart modem but still not able to login. I also turned wifi off as not needed, and tried just using ethernet to connect to modem. We are still experiencing internet connections issues in this area. At times even the outages page can't come up! Pages can take a while to load. Tried using Chrome and Opera.

Oops, firewall issue. Once I changed http to eopl not VPN tunnel it worked!

Telstra Smart Modem

Plug in and connect in minutes. Smart.
