Nbn troubles

Hey guys, 

 

so recently I had to sign up for nbn as like everyone I suppose we are being forced into it. I currently have cable to the premises, connected using a coaxial point. 

 

Got out the nbn modem this morning and I have no idea how to set it up. I don't have a nbn connection box, nor a Telstra connection box and it's talking about uni- d ports, the modem only has LAN ports, there's no coaxial connection just an adsl connection point . How am I supposed to set this thing up?

 

am I supposed to use the old Telstra cable modem to relay the connection via the LAN ports? If so how does the supposed speed boost I should experience with the nbn work? Prior to the switch I was getting around 40-45 Mbps on cable. Since starting the plan change to nbn it's dropped to like 30 on a good day. 

 

I dunno its just confusing and Ng and I haven't had my morning coffee yet. 

 

Please save my sanity.

There is a NBN modem (NBN connection box) that connects to coaxial socket and has a UNID1 port that connects to WAN port on the modem. Contact Telstra support to arrange for NBN Co connection box installation.

Ahh so they sent the wrong modem. Sheesh Telstra needs to get their crap together, it took me 4-5 contacts with them to even get a modem sent out and every conversation including me stressing I had cable.

They sent the right modem, you just haven't got the NBN equipment installed yet

If its NBN HFC, there should of been an appointment setup for NBN to come and install their equipment. The Telstra modem will then plug into it via Ethernet
